Surgery update, May 5, 2009

So I had my surgery on April 29, 2009. My temporary foster mommy, Stephanie, dropped me off at the vet in the morning and said she would be back for me. I didn't understand what was going on or why I was being left here. Next thing I know, WOW, PAIN, and LOTS of it. Dr. Monce said this was a "textbook" surgery. All I know is that my leg is straight!!! Appears that he had to go ahead and break the bone, he removed a small part of the bone and then went ahead and re-set it for me. I now have 2 pins in my leg, one above the break and one below it. He told me he did this so the weight will be shifted to the pins, down the apparatus which is wrapped in blue, and down to the bottom part of my foot. This will keep the weight off the break area. That all sounds really great in theory but what about my pain.....where does that get transferred to?? Oh, I guess that is what those small green bottles are for that they gave Stephanie and Brendan......I hope anyway. Dr. Monce told me that it could be 8 weeks before I am fully healed from this so right now I am just trying to take it one day at a time. I have to stay in my crate most of the day right now because I have to make sure I don't put too much pressure on it or jump off the couch which I LOVE to do. I have to tell you though that I sure am starting to get bored of my crate but Stephanie and Brendan just keep telling me that it's in my best interest. I really miss the other dogs that I hear outside of my crate but I will be able to run around with them soon enough. Brendan and Stephanie bought me some bully sticks and they come up to my room all the time and let me hang out with them and chew on my bully sticks.....I really like it when they come hang out with me! Well here are some photos of my new leg.....I guess you could say I am really and Min "Pin" now!!!
